Goodbye Joseph Sack
Last month, Joseph Sack (blog|@josephsack) resigned as Program Manager for the SQL Server Certified Master program to pursue other passions. Joe leaves behind you a tremendous legacy. It was no small feat to globalize the SQL Server Master Certification program. I was honored to have been allowed to assist in those efforts and was in awe of Joe’s ability to manage that massive effort so well. I look forward to seeing this journey he put the program on reach its destination and seeing everything he envisioned be realized.Joe has been a major influencer on me over the last two years. I started talking to Joe about the Master Certification program before I even accepted an FTE position at Microsoft, and Microsoft committing to send me to the program was one of the main reasons I chose their offer of a position over a competing offer from another company.
One of the things I remember fondly about the program when I was going through it was that I had a desire back then to come back in a future rotation as one of the instructors. When I first heard about plans to disconnect the training from the certification, I was disappointed to realize that it meant I would never have the opportunity to be an instructor at the program. My passion for the program did not go away though. It simply got funneled into a new direction.
When Joe announced that he was leaving as PM for the program, I replied as soon as I read it that I was interested. I knew immediately that this would be the right move for me, and could put my passion for the program to full use. I’m truly excited to be joining Microsoft Learning and following in Joe’s footsteps as Program Manager of the SQL Server Master Certification program.
I start my new position as Program Manager of the SQL MCM program on Monday, July 18, 2011.
