So now we are embarking on road trip part 2. I have accepted a job with a company in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we are relocating back to the Seattle area. I will work remotely most of the time and commute up to Vancouver when needed. Bonus, my boss lives in Redmond and commutes to Vancouver twice a week. I may be able to carpool with him some of the days I need to go up north.
I’m glad I pursued the opportunity I had in New York, if for no other reason than I would have always wondered “what if”. I don’t regret the job I took. I liked the people. New Yorkers are a lot friendlier than people say they are. I just never really got accustomed to New York. Almost 2 years later, and I still feel like I’m in a strange city. New York was never home.
But now we’re going home where I have lots of good friends, get to watch the Seahawks game every week, can visit my family when I want, and most importantly, where I feel at home.
