Idera ACE Program Members Announced
Idera announced the lineup for their new ACE (Advisors & Community Educators) Program today, and I’m excited to be on of the Idera ACEs. The new Idera ACEs are established members of the SQL community who are already educators and advisors through various programs. Idera is enabling the ACEs to take an even bigger role in the SQL community and fostering our participation in even more SQL events.Below is a brief excerpt of what Idera had to say about the program:
Idera believes in and wants to invest in the SQL Server community and there is no better way to show our commitment than to offer a program that will help active community members. That’s why we created the Idera Advisors & Community Educators (ACE) program for SQL Server. The Idera ACEs are active members of the SQL Server community who have a passion for helping the community by sharing their knowledge and participating in SQL Server educational events. We’re helping the ACEs pursue their passion by sponsoring their travel to a number of SQL Server events.

Secrets of SQL Server Webcast: TempDB: Performance and Manageability
One of my first educational opportunities will be a Secrets of SQL Server webcast on July 13th. Register today for this session. Details below.
TempDB: Performance and Manageability
Misconceptions and inconsistent advice on tempDB abounds. Even highly skilled DBAs cannot always agree on how to best configure tempDB. Part of the problem is that there is no single solution that can be applied to every situation.
How many files should tempDB have? Should it be on RAID 1? RAID 10? How about Solid State Drives (SSDs)?
This session will give you the tools to determine the optimal configuration for tempDB. Also covered is how to detect, prevent, and monitor for common tempDB performance problems.
Register online for this Secrets of SQL Server Webcast brought to you by Idera.

Thanks to Idera’s support, I will be attending more SQL Saturdays at various locations around the country. I already have several SQL Saturday events on my short list in addition to the SQL PASS Summit 2011 in Seattle in October. More events to be added later.- SQL Saturday #95 – San Diego, CA on Sep. 17, 2011
- SQL Saturday #92 – Portland, OR on Oct. 8, 2011
- SQL Saturday #86 – Tampa, FL – BI Edition 2011 on Nov. 5, 2011

Thanks Jim! Unfortunately, the date changed from what was originally reserved, and I can no longer attend the Austin SQL Saturday. I’m attending the San Diego SQL Saturday instead. I’ve updated the post to reflect this.

Bummer for us. What’s in San Diego? Nothin’ but beautiful beaches, mountains and grass. Whatever. Austin has, uh, er, Live Music, oh, and kickin’ BBQ!
We are loosely planning another SQLSaturday spring here in Austin. We’ll get the announcement out as soon as we can.

Nice. I’ll try to make the spring SQLSaturday …. just try not to schedule right before SQL Rally. 😉
